With the release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the group announced their plans to step away from the franchise for a good long while. Instead, they set out work on something called Cyberpunk 2077 - a title we still know little about after a number of years.

Potentially bothered by that lack of communication, someone has taken matters into their own hands. Announced by CD Project Red themselves, they've been the victim of a cyber attack with the perp now demanding money to stop their devious plan. Having gained access to design documents and other goods relating to the unfinished game, the attacker is holding the files ransom hoping to make a quick buck from the big-name studio.
Thankfully, CD Projekt Red don't really care. Essentially just putting out the warning to say anything that might pop up soon doesn't reflect the current version of the game, they've stated the held files are particularly old and mostly redundant. They're not paying up. It wouldn't make sense.
