Maize, a new title described as an “absurdist comedy wrapped in a first-person adventure” will be launching this Autumn. Check out its debut trailer below.
The game will follow the story of what happens when two government scientists misinterpret a memo and create sentient corn – if this doesn’t make you curious about the game, what will? As you can see in the trailer, we catch a short glimpse of this character before he shuffles off-screen.
Maize will have players exploring various locations for clues as they learn more about the characters’ past. Independent games studio, Finish Line Games, have promised a “cornucopia of highbrow puzzles to solve” as players meet new friends (some of which, have been described as “colourful”) and uncover new mysteries.
If you’re wondering what kind of style to expect from Maize, Finish Line Games, have also shared some of their inspirations with us. Let’s just say if you’re a fan of Monty Python and some of the funnier episodes of The X Files, you’ll feel right at home!
From what we have heard so far, it certainly looks as though Finish Line Games have put a very individual spin on the puzzle genre with Maize. We’re looking forward to hearing more about the game and can’t wait to cringe at the corny jokes and puns that await us at its release in Autumn, this year.
