VR is here! For some people. But many, many others are still waiting for their headsets to show up, and shipping dates are slipping further and further back into the year.
Oculus cites their issues as supply shortages, according a statement issued to Polygon. “We’ve been working through an unexpected component shortage, and unfortunately the issue has impacted has impacted the original shipping estimates for some early customers.” The reason is little comfort if you’re one of the early purchasers, however, as the product you’ve paid for is getting delayed by months.
New orders have pushed back shipping estimates from July to August, and Kickstarter backers, who were supposed to receive their units before anyone else, are facing delays as well.
