Square Enix will likely bring Final Fantasy 15 to the PC at some point, and there’s been talk from the game’s director about it recently, with Hajime Tabata saying that simultaneous development on a PC and console wasn’t possible.
Just yesterday, in an interview with French publication JeuxVideo, Tabata revealed that any PC version of Final Fantasy 15 is unlikely to be “a simple port of the console version.”
When Square Enix finally officially announces that a PC version of Final Fantasy 15 is in development, you’ll be able to find it on our Upcoming PC Games page.
Tabata points out that the console versions have limitations, which is a problem the PC doesn’t have, so Final Fantasy 15 would be a different game – a “far superior” game in “terms of quality and tech”.
“I’m quite positive about the idea of developing a PC version, but I would like to make a very different project if possible. The reason I’m interested is that a PC version would propel the game to another technical level. I have in mind a version of Final Fantasy XV that is more technically developed.
“This version could incorporate things that we were forced to abandon because of the limitations of home consoles. With the PC, this would be an opportunity to release a version far superior in terms of quality and tech. That said, if we choose to develop this project, the development will start from scratch by doing research of what would be the best technology to use. It might not be a simple port of the console version.”</b>
There’s a very short demo for the game on the PlayStation 4 at the moment that showcases the graphics and gives you a good idea of what the combat is going to be like, which seemed very good, although it’ll be interesting to hear more about those features that were abandoned. Hopefully we see them appear in any possible PC release.
Final Fantasy 15 is going to be released on 30th September for both the PS4 and Xbox One, so we probably won’t hear anything solid until those versions are out.
