BioWare have announced Mass Effect: Andromeda will be delayed until early 2017, pushed back from its original release date of 2016.
Aaryn Flynn’s blog post details the reason for the delay: “As we’ve been playing the game at the studio recently, it’s showing us that we’re taking the game in the right direction. But we also know we need the right amount of time to make sure we deliver everything the game can be and should be – that’s our commitment from all of us to all of you.”
The blog post also details some of Andromeda’s best features:
• More Freedom: One of our biggest ambitions is to give players an unprecedented level of freedom for a Mass Effect experience –where you’ll go, how you’ll get there, and how you’ll play.
• New Uncharted Worlds: We’re leaving the Milky Way behind and headed to Andromeda, where we’ll meet new allies, confront new enemies, and explore fascinating new worlds.
• The Next Great Mass Effect Experience: Mass Effect: Andromeda will be the first Mass Effect game for today’s consoles and the first built on the Frostbite engine. We’re pushing the technology to deliver visuals, story, and gameplay that have never been done in franchise history.
If you haven’t played any games in the Mass Effect series, you can read our reviews to get an idea of whether the series would interest you. The first game scored an excellent score of 9.0. The second game took the series even further, earning an incredible 9.8. The final game, while perhaps not as good as the second, still maintained a high standard scoring 9.0.
Mass Effect: Andromeda was revealed last year at E3, where it was announced the game would be scheduled for release at the end of 2016. Mass Effect fans won’t have to wait too long to get a glimpse of Mass Effect: Andromeda as BioWare mentioned it will be at EA Play on June 12th.
