If you are looking to buy a Vive directly from Valve/Steam and you happen to be American, then you are in luck. HTC have enough stock that they’ve not only managed to get Vives into stores around America including Microsoft, GameStop and Micro Center, but they’ve also got enough online inventory to start shipping orders relatively quickly. HTC promise to have any Vive orders shipped within three days of ordering.
HTC have managed to sort out any stock problems they may have had at launch, unlike Oculus. Oculus are having major issues with the launch of their VR headset, the Oculus Rift. Despite launching before the HTC Vive, people that have pre-ordered themselves an Oculus Rift have been forced to wait months before receiving their order. This has led many people to cancel their Oculus Rift order and order an HTC Vive instead, as the Vives have been readily available for some time now.
For you lucky Americans out there, the fun doesn’t stop with having an HTC Vive in your local stores. HTC are going to demo the Vive at 100 different retail locations throughout North America, so if you haven’t had the opportunity to try out VR, you will be able to soon.
