Doom’s currently in closed beta for folks who pre-ordered the most recent Wolfenstein. It’s pretty good! If you weren’t in that first wave of players, there’s good news. The beta will be going open soon!
The open beta will run from April 15 to 18, and will be available as a free download on the platform of your choice. It will feature Team Deathmatch and Warpath modes on two maps–Heatwave and Infernal.
id also announced their plans for post-launch support. SnapMap, Doom’s new level creation tool, will receive periodic updates including new modules, objects, features, and enhancements. Multiplayer will also see new game modes. Both of these components will be free.
Of course, paid DLC will be available as well. The three planned content packs will cost $14.99 each, or will be available in a Season Pass for $39.99. The first piece of DLC will feature three new maps, new hack modules, a new weapon, playable demon, and piece of equipment, and new customization options in the form of an armor set, taunts, and new colours and patterns.
Doom is set to launch Friday, May 13.
