Though Resident Evil 7's VR mode was never mentioned to be coming to any virtual reality headset other than the PlayStation VR system, fine-print wording on a recent promotional shot could suggest the component may eventually be ported to other VR platforms.
Advertisements on Facebook for both Resident Evil 7 VR and Batman: Arkham VR can be seen displaying the note 'exclusive to PlayStation VR for 12 months' causing speculation the horror title may eventually sneak onto other VR platforms like the Oculus Rift or HTC Vive in the future.
In the past, it's become more and more likely for big-budget titles to become 'exclusive' to the highest bidder's platform for an extended period of time before being free to jump to the competitor's machines.
Capcom not being owned by a first-party publisher fuels the thought they'll be free to add support for any number of PC VR headsets once their exclusivity deal with Sony has ran its course.
With no further VR support having been announced for the title - likely also tied to the business deal - the need for Sony and/or Capcom to disclose the end date of their exclusivity agreement shows a likelihood for the studio to make a wider VR debut later in the new year.
Resident Evil 7 launches across PCs worldwide January 24 without support for virtual reality.
