The United States Patent and Trademark Office has an interesting listing for a Microsoft patent that seems to suggest the company is working on a pair of glasses that will be able to detect a wearer’s emotional state, with the tech being able to tell if you’re crying or smiling, essentially allowing it to track how you emotionally react to certain situations on the screen.
“During interactions, the device, recognizes emotional states in subjects by comparing detected sensor input against a database of human/primate gestures/expressions, posture, and speech,” read the description on the patent page. “Feedback is provided to the wearer after interpretation of the sensor input.”
Could this technology be something Microsoft is planning to use with the Xbox One and Windows 10? We don’t know at the moment, but it’s very likely that it will be used to help certain functions on its HoloLens tech.
