The closed beta for Rainbow Six: Siege begins today, but Ubisoft warns that not everyone will be joining it right away, and those who do can expect some noticeable matchmaking and connectivity issues.
According to the publisher, the closed beta is basically to test the infrastructure and matchmaking for the game, so naturally there will be issues that players will have to deal with as beta testers. ”Known issues, emergency outages, and server maintenance times will all be communicated on the official forums and subreddit so please pay attention to those places for the latest info,” according to the official Siege blog.
The blog additionally warns, ”You have about a 60% chance to start a match successfully. Average awaiting time is 60 seconds. If you’re not able to join a game under 90 seconds, we recommend you to quit the lobby and try again until you succeed.” Ubisoft also warns that if players try to join as a full party, the success rate will be lower than if playing solo.
The beta will include 3 game modes. Two competitive PvP modes include TDM - Secure Area and TDM - Bomb, while a co-op mode, Terrorist Hunt Classic, will start tomorrow. There will also be 3 maps: House, Hereford, and Consulate. Players will have access to 14 types of operators, each with their own skill set. Operators include such units as GSG 9 and Spetsnaz CTUs.
