Rainbow Six: Siege sounds like exactly the kind of tense, tactical shooter action I’ve been missing all these years, so I’m eagerly gobbling up every bit of in-game footage I can get my hands on.
Footage like this ten-minute section of alpha gameplay showing off the ‘Plane’ map. Look, tactical insertion points, guys falling through destructible walls, it’s got the lot.

It’s still kind of surprising we’re actually getting a triple-A game like this, which looks defiantly old-school. No respawns or crazy kill-streaks, just tense little face-offs between teams of five. Ditching the generic-looking Patriots in favour of Siege is increasingly looking like a smart decision on Ubisoft’s part
Rainbow Six: Siege is expected to launch later this year. Videogamer reports that the game will be getting an open beta on PC and next-gen consoles at some point before then.
