US, European and Australia retailers have been sending out emails to customers who put down their cash on the Batman: Arkham Knight Batmobile Edition, informing them that the line has been cancelled.
Don’t worry, publisher Warner Bros hasn’t gone temporarily insane, regular versions of Arkham Knight are still set for release next week, but some kind of mishap with the Batmobile statues built by Project Triforce has forced the company to pull the £169.99 special edition.
Here’s a snippet of Amazon’s email, sent out to customers:
“We’re contacting you about your pre-order XXX-XXXXXXX-XXXXXX for Batman: Arkham Knight Batmobile Edition - PlayStation 4. We recently learned this item will no longer be released by the manufacturer as expected. As a result, we canceled your order and you have not been charged. We apologize for any disappointment or inconvenience this may have caused.”
In other news, WB has revealed that retailer-exclusive pre-order DLC missions featuring Harley Quinn and Red Hood won’t actually remain exclusive forever; once the individual retailer deals run out in August/September, they will all be made available to Season pass holders.
Man, this pre-order stuff is getting more and more labyrinthine and confusing isn’t it? It’s almost like it only benefits retailers and publishers and is of little actual value to the customer.
Batman: Arkham Knight is set for release on Tuesday, June 23.
