EVE Online has received another huge chunk of content in the form of free expansion Tiamat, which adds some new enemies in the form of the Drifters.
That’s not all of course. Players will also find a new Destroyer-class vessel, new corporation tools, and a bunch of other technical and gameplay tweaks.
“Following the appearance of the Circadian Seekers in New Eden,” developer CCP explains regarding the Drifters, “a new ominous threat now glides through the darkness. Whatever their intentions and motives are, Capsuleers will no doubt play an integral part of their plan. Extreme caution is advised if contact is made.”
Circadian Seekers were introduced in the Rhea update as roaming sleeper drones that went around scanning asteroids and other objects. There’s something fishy going on with these new guys, but for now just remember to get out as fast as possible if you see a Drifter hanging about. Unless you’re in a battleship of course.
The new Svipul Destroyer is a tactical vessel that specialises in small projectile weaponry. Interestingly, it can change between three distinct tactical modes on the fly - Defensive, Propulsion and Sharpshooter – offering unique bonuses while in each form.
Other additions include various tools for managing your corporation, mainly for communicating with your various members, and some balancing for EVE’s projectile weapons. You can find more about the update’s graphical and audio improvements on the EVE Online website.
