There won’t be a repeat of Steam Dev Days in 2015 as Valve will instead boost their presence at GDC instead, but they’ll ”certainly consider doing it again” sometime in the future.
In 2014 Valve put out a call to all Steam developers to come and learn what the company was up to, like Steam Machines, its own controller peripheral and it’s Linux-based SteamOS.
”Steam Dev Days was a great way to brief a large number of Steam developers,” Valve told Gamasutra. ”This year our focus will be a bit different, so we are planning a larger than usual presence at GDC. So, there will not be a Steam Dev Days this year, but we will certainly consider doing it again in the future.”
It ‘made sense’ for Valve to host Steam Dev Days last year considering they had three major tech announcements that could profoundly change the Steam landscape moving forward. Valve published a series of videos from their Steam Dev Days presentations.
GDC 2015 takes place March 2-6, 2015 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California. Steam Machines are expected to strut their stuff at GDC from various manufacturers..
