No sooner has a 290X graphics card slotted neatly (after a bit of maneuvering- have you seen the size of those bloody things?) into my PC case, than AMD announce that the Radeon 300 series is on the way.
Replying to a fan on Facebook, an AMD representative said that the company is “putting the finishing touches” on the 300 series.
“We don’t have an official date to share just yet but the second we know, we will definitely announce it on Facebook,” read the initial reply. “We’re still putting the finishing touches on the 300 series to make sure they live up to expectation. Can’t wait to reveal them though. We’re pretty excited.”
That’s no indication that an official announcement is incoming of course, but it does lend to credence to rumours that AMD has something planned for the second quarter of 2015. WCCFTech reports that several retail sites have listed R9 390X , R9 380X and R9 370X cards.
That would be the next generation of AMD’s graphics tech, which is expected to feature a new memory standard that is up to 9 times faster than traditional GDDR5. I won’t pretend to know much about the rest of the rumoured improvements. Expensive shiny card make video game look good.
