The Kickstarter campaign for Crytivo Games’ planet management god-game The Universim was a great success for the studio, but they’ve now opened up their own funding page for late backers.
The Kickstarter and Paypal pledges reached $400k, which means we’ll have dinosaurs to contend with as we use our godly powers to forge a ”galactic empire in the stars.”
We don’t directly control our people but rather guide the civilization as it expands, helping them survive natural disasters or alien invasion, and perhaps even our own wrath.
”From dust to the cosmos beyond, your civilization will rise through the ages under your guidance. Yet this is not the same static world you may be accustomed to, this is a dynamic, living world that is just as unpredictable as it is beautiful. Everything in The Universim revolves around dynamic gameplay, including the civilization AI.”
”You may have unparalleled power, but you cannot control the AI directly as you would in a typical strategy game. The AI will make its own decisions and always seek to better the civilization in some way, but at times their decisions may end badly without your intervention.”
”You can attempt to influence their decisions and sway them back onto your chosen path, but the end result is entirely dependent on the AI. One such situation could be that the AI cities declare war on one another. It is then up to you to intervene and attempt to bring an end to the chaos, or simply watch as they destroy one another.”
Has this piqued the interest of your inner-god? Check out The Universim website to learn more and maybe to pledge some monies if you haven’t already. Many stretch goals remain with the next just $50k away for a Planet Editor and Live News System, with will dynamically feed us quirky news of what’s happening in the game.
