There was an almost immediate backlash against Far Cry 4’s box art when it was first revealed last week, with many feeling that the image of a white man with his hand resting on the head of a native soldier was an uncomfortably imperialist one.
Now the game’s creative director, Alex Hutchinson, has responded over Twitter, saying that the guy in the natty pink suit isn’t white, and he isn’t the main character.
Just so it's clear for those jumping to conclusions: He's not white and that's not the player. http://t.co/zvqe3uzZI6

We’ll find out more about the plot soon, I’m sure, which should clear up exactly what is going on in the picture. We’ve already heard that the protaganist is traveling to an area called Kyrat in the Himalayas to “fulfill his mother’s dying wish”, and that the blonde-haired chap might be dictator Pagan Min, who appears to be the antagonist.
