We’ve all wondered it when whiling away the hours in games that cast us as superhero space marines or badass wizards - why isn’t there a game in which we can play as a piece of bread?
No, I’m not losing it. Surgeon Simulator developer Bossa Studios’ latest title is I Am Bread, which chronicles one humble slice of white’s attempts to get itself lightly toasted.
Or as Bossa puts it: ”The beautiful story of one slice of bread’s epic and emotional journey as it embarks upon a quest to become toasted.”
Yeah, I know - comedy simulators feel kind of played out at this point, right? Well yes, but at least Bossa look like they’re taking the concept and running with it. Surgeon Simulator proves the studio can do slapstick physics better than most, and there’s an amusing hint of Katamari Damacy in the way random bits and pieces attach themselves to your flailing piece of bread as you wave it about the place. That’s another sentence I never thought I’d write.
No word on a potential release date yet. They’ll have to be careful though, Bossa don’t want it going up against all the other bread simulators out there.
