CD Projekt Red claimed earlier this month that there would be a second playable character in the recently delayed The Witcher 3, and now the developer has revealed her identity.
Players will be able to take control of Ciri, a skilled sword-fighter and “a powerful, living weapon capable of both healing and destroying the world.”
Ciri is a major player in the novel source material that The Witcher series is adapted from, but this is the first time she’s made an appearance in the series. From the sound of it main character Geralt will be something of a mentor for Ciri, training her in the martial techniques of the monster-hunting Witchers.
“CD Projekt Red decided that introducing another character and telling parts of the story from her perspective would greatly benefit the overall experience,” CD Projekt said in a press release yesterday.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is set to launch on May 19, 2015.
