Upcoming zombie survivor Dying Light from Dead Island creator Techland is super enthused by the virtual reality headgear of Oculus Rift, and admits there’s still stuff they ”need to adapt” to get it right.
Dying Light would be quite the head trip given its first-person free-running and zombie hordes. Camera issues are the biggest hurdle, reveals Techland, but they’ll be ‘ready’ when it launches.
“You can already plug in Oculus and play and it’s pretty good,” says lead designer Maciej Binkowski. “We’re definitely going to support Dying Light when it releases.”
“There’s still stuff we need to adapt, like how the camera works and the UI, stuff like that,” he continued. Virtual reality would be the perfect feature for a game like Dying Light, he argues. “I think it’s the absolute perfect game to experience in VR,” he said. “I’m really looking forward to getting it, because it just feels really visceral.”
When Dying Light launches it won’t be natively supported. “We don’t really know how long it’s going to take to release Oculus, and we release in January,” Binkowski added. “But if they’re ready, we’re going to be ready.” Dying Light releases on PC, Xbox One and PS4 January 27th in the US, 30th in EU.
