Here’s some clarification on those apparently prohibitive recommended specifications for survival horror The Evil Within. Bethesda has released some minimum specs, which sound a lot more reasonable.
”While we still recommend (the previous) benchmark to experience the game in all its gory glory,” writes Bethesda on its blog page, ”we also recognize the need to provide information on how you can play the game with a wider range of PCs.”
Many fans were irritated by the specs released last week, which seemed to suggest that only those with 4GB VRAM graphics cards would be able to play the game - despite the fact that The Evil Within is also set for release on last-gen consoles. Here’s the new minimum requirements:
- Minimum Requirements
-
OS: windows 7/8.1
-
GPU: GTX 460 or an equivalent 1 GB VRAM card
-
CPU: i7 or an equivalent 4+ core processor
-
RAM: 4 GB
-
HDD: 50 GB
That’s a lot more reasonable for most gamers. Bethesda does warn that with those specs you’ll need to turn off several of the game’s fancier visual effects; full-screen anti-aliasing, full shadow quality, motion blur, tessellation, SSAO, and 1080p visuals.
Still, let’s face it; if you’re a PC gamer you’re used to compromising on graphics to eke out more performance. The Evil Within is out October 14 on PC and consoles.
