Minecraft’s Markus ‘Notch’ Persson has revealed that the unknown project cancellation at his studio Mojang was in fact collaboration on a first-person shooter, which is now completely dead.
The FPS died in the prototype phase of production due to Notch not wanting ”more external dependencies.” Minecraft’s phenomenal success means they can ”focus on projects fully owned by us.”
He didn’t rule out collaboration in the future provided it’s ”not to make money. If there are other reasons to collaborate, maybe!” No info on who they were working with.
