According to reports, Microsoft will be updating the Xbox 360 Dashboard to allow the Kinect sensor device to track a player’s workout activity across multiple applications, even non-exercise games. The metrics will be stored on a cloud save service called Kinect Play Fit. In addition, Microsoft is planning to release a Joule heart rate monitor.
Kinect Play Fit will wirelessly track a player’s activity and allow them to target goals for weight loss or strength.
At least one workout game comes with its own heart monitor - Electronic Arts’ Sports Active 2 - but neither the Microsoft nor EA monitors will be required for Kinect Play Fit.
Kinect Play Fit has no set release date. Microsoft has yet to officially confirm the upcoming Dashboard update.
