On the Xbox 360, Rage will require 3 discs to hold it all in - and installing the entire game requires 22GB of hard drive space. Meanwhile, the PlayStation 3 version of Rage will have a mandatory 8GB install.
id Software admitted it could have put Rage on two discs for the PS3 version to prevent a mandatory install, but Sony preferred the install than admit to the shame that the Blu-Ray disc access speed (being CLV discs) are too slow to have it on one disc; software developers have to repeat code sections on a disc to speed up gameplay on the Blu-Ray discs.
