UK upswing in PS3 sales thanks to price cuts, 'increase of 65%'

The 160GB and 320GB models of PlayStation 3 are selling like hotcakes in Britain thanks to the price drop by Sony and retailers. Sales jump 65% week-on-week.

These stellar numbers have come in before Sony’s 5,000 poster ad campaign in major UK high streets. Deus Ex: Human Revolution likely to fuel more sales.

A retail source spilled the PS3 sales figure. The new RRP for the base SKU model is now just £199.99 in the UK. Sony will be pleased their new price point is doing so well especially as their ad campaign for it hasn’t even started yet.

This week Deus Ex: Human Revolution releases for PS3, as well as Xbox 360 and PC, which could help bolster PS3 console sales even higher.
