Electronic Arts chief financial officer Eric Brown revealed during last week’s Citi 2011 Tech Conference that the publisher is shooting for a fourth quarter 2011 release for Star Wars: The Old Republic, Bioware’s highly anticipated MMO set in George Lucas’ megablockbuster universe.
Brown noted that while pre-orders for the game are very strong, the publisher won’t know the release date until October, stating: ”We have a date set internally (for calendar Q4), with a lot of assumptions around it. We’re not done until we’re done. … We’re not going to know with enough certainty to publicly announce a release date.”
Bioware’s MMO has been undergoing closed beta-testing as well as focus group meetings.
