Electronic Arts president Frank Gibeau has caused a stir when during a keynote speech at the University of Southern California, he commented that ”there is going to be a Battlefield 4.”
The statement caused a Twitter frenzy at the “confirmation” of Battlefield 4. However, Electronic Arts soon released a statement that read, ”Frank was speaking broadly about the Battlefield brand - a brand that EA is deeply passionate about and a fan community that EA is committed to.”
It might have been premature to invoke Battlefield 4, since the Battlefield 3 was just released two weeks ago, but it’s more or less an eventuality, since the latter was the fastest selling Electronic Arts game in the company’s history.
