According to CEO David Perry, Gaikai will allow publishers to give gamers a chance to try their games without even issuing a demo and ads can be run alongside the gamefor additional revenue.
Perry brags: ”Our main focus however is our Advertising strategy, where we can put any game anywhere on the web.Our objective has been to empower publishers and retailers to give gamers what they keep asking for… ‘Let me try the game!’… Nobody else in the world has achieved this kind of streaming performance directly into browsers, it’s technically the most advanced interactive advertising unit in existence.”
You can try the demo for Mass Effect 2 by visiting the site - just wait for the banner to appear on the bottom of the screen. Having tried it, the action sequences are a little stiff, but all in all, it’s an amazing experience. This could be the future of PC gaming. The only barrier is connection speed.
