The gamer who posted the video noted a pop-up said ”Modern Warfare 2 Membersh,” assuming the cut off word is ‘Memberships’.
He was apparently trying to ”join a friend’s session on MW2” when a pop-up via the Xbox 360 dashboard interrupted him.
”It clearly says at the top of this menu: “Modern Warfare 2 Membersh”, in which we can confidently assume that the last word is “Memberships”,” posted user ‘PwnShop’ on the 360junkies forum, reports TheSixthAxis.
”If you’ll notice at the bottom is an option to “Add Microsoft Points”, clearly indicating that this was intended to be a menu for purchasing different levels of Membership, presumably memberships would have been offered in a variety of durations,” they added.
To play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on Xbox 360 online you already need to pay for a Gold membership with Microsoft, as you would for any access to online multiplayer with any game on the Xbox Live service. Does this suggest a separate charge?
CEO Kotick has already admitted his envy that 60% of Gold Live subscriptions exist thanks to Activision and the Call of Duty franchise, but the publisher sees none of it. This clip could turn out to be a colossal fake of course, but until Activision comments…
