SCEA has filed patent papers which include illustrations of their new fangled console device, which basically tracks where you are and what you’re doing.
It’s got fancy tech like a gyroscope, accelerometer, magnometer and even an ultrasonic transmitter. It talks with another device and uses echolocation.
The word ‘echolocation’ is tech talk for ‘knowing where the player is’. The idea seems to be using this new stationary device as the ‘camera’ and then recording far more precise movements of the players who have controllers. A better PlayStation Eye?
