It’ll be thanks to ”less clutter” and ”less aggravating” mechanics in the game that help push copies. Fable II has sold 3.5m, and Xbox’s Fable 3m.
”We want more than five million people playing Fable III on the Xbox 360, full stop,” said veteran game designer Molyneux of Populous, Theme Park and Syndicate fame.
”Part of that plan is less clutter in the game, less aggravating little inventions that Peter Molyneux once thought was a good idea. More clarity, better story, better cast, better balance,” he said. Fable III’s redesign is less intimidating to the casual gamer.
It has a number of notable British thespians lending their vocal talents; John Cleese, Stephen Fry, Jonathan Ross and Simon Pegg. “Of course, we have to do all this still with fresh ideas and a new feel to the game.” A PC version is in the works as well.
The original Xbox Fable sold 3m copies while Fable II reached 3.5m. Kinect support for Fable III has been dropped and the PC game is no longer releasing simultaneously. A date is yet to be confirmed for when desktop gamers can get their Fable III fix.
