The new system allows you to buy points in lots of 400, 800, and 1200, instead of the previously listed 500, 1000 and 2000 increments.
Despite initially seeming random, these new listings actually make a lot of sense as many items (games & DLC) are priced at those three milestones. This way you don’t need to purchase 1000 points just to get a 800 point item.
This change only applies to US customers at the moment, so no news as to if/when the new system will be making the trip across the pond.
