Sony Entertainment Online boss John Smedley told MCV today that PS3 is the “perfect platform” for developing MMO’s on a console.
”Probably the biggest thing we can bring to the table is just the experience of having operated an online gaming service for many years. “We’re happy to roll up our sleeves and offer assistance anywhere we are needed. We love making online games and we think PS3 is the perfect platform for doing that.”
Both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 have the abilities and features to run a successful MMO game, with some already being developed, but they don’t reach the same success rate as PC MMO’s do.
Perhaps this will change soon? Although it wouldn’t be great for PC Gamers if console MMO’s did get a similar success rate.
